According to The Guardian, activists and a Greens MP have threatened to challenge police exclusion orders affecting at least 12 people ahead of the Land Forces weapons expo in Perth.
The newspaper reports that Western Australia police barred the activists from a designated security area surrounding the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The expo is scheduled to begin on 6 October.
Police reportedly invoked special powers granted by the state government last month. The Guardian says defying an exclusion order under the new laws could carry a maximum fine of $36,000 and three years in prison.
