Burundi has agreed to receive people deported from the United States who come from other countries, according to The Guardian.
The report attributes the announcement to Nancy Ninette Mutoni, spokesperson for Burundi’s president, Évariste Ndayishimiye. She said Burundi would accept only people who were not accused of crimes or linked to terrorism.
According to The Guardian, the announcement on Tuesday did not specify how many people Burundi would receive, when transfers would take place or any financial terms.
The Guardian places Burundi among several African countries accepting deportees under Donald Trump’s restrictive immigration policy.
